Knight Foundation is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Investment Operations Associate to support our Investments Office. This role provides crucial operational and administrative support to the foundation’s investment management function. In this role, you will report directly to the director of investment operations. The role involves coordinating with the investment team, Knight Foundation staff, legal counsel, and third-party stakeholders to determine how to best implement the investment team transaction requests and process documentation to complete those requests. This role requires a significant amount of both written and oral communication and is very deadline driven.

The Investments Office is responsible for growing and managing the foundation’s endowment to support its mission of fostering informed and engaged communities. The team oversees a diversified portfolio across asset classes, ensuring the foundation’s long-term financial sustainability and acting as thought partners for complex investment transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and maintain investment-related documents and data, including asset liquidity, ensuring all relevant information is collected and organized.
  • Determine operations processes necessary for implementing investment decisions and coordinate with investment team to complete, execute, and submit all documentation related to investments in client portfolio.
  • Analyze information relating to accounts, investments, or portfolio structure and convey operational logistics to support informed and successful actions on the part of the Investments Office.
  • Coordinate with the investment team, fund managers, and legal counsel to negotiate side letters and contracts relating to investments.
  • Serve as point of contact for third-party stakeholders, such as fund managers, fund administrators, and the custodian bank and respond to questions and complete requests related to the investment portfolio.
  • Facilitate the timely flow of information to relevant stakeholders by partnering with other foundation departments as needed.
  • Review monthly and quarterly performance reports to ensure accuracy. Coordinate with performance report provider to implement timely and accurate updates and information regarding changes to the investment portfolio.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of investment operations processes, protocols, record-keeping systems, tools and databases.
  • Ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance in operational processes.

Things we look for in a successful candidate:

  • Two to four years of experience in investment operations, investor relations, investment performance reporting or a related field.
  • Degree in finance, business-administration or a related discipline is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with investment accounting systems and portfolio management tools.

  • Keen attention to detail with excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive attitude, desire to learn, ability to self-direct work in a disciplined and focused manner, eagerness to contribute to team success.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
